Welcome!

The goal of the All Souls Community Church (ASCC) religious education (RE) program is to foster an environment where children can be comfortable in their own identities while learning to be tolerant and respectful of others. "We are Unitarian Universalists with minds that think, hearts that love, and hands that are ready to serve."

Kids Food Basket – Snack Sacks
Things are going really well with sign-ups and collections – Thank you!!!  There are still items we will need to meet our goal of 150 snack sacks.   We will fill the bags during our January 6th Young Souls class.  In order to pull this off, we will need to have the food items by January 6th at the latest, but preferably before Christmas!  This is the first service project that our kids will do in church this year and we would love to have the support of everyone in the congregation.  Please follow this link to see what we still need and to sign up to bring one or more items!  “God bless us everyone!”  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0F4BAEA9238-kids

Children’s Offering!
Remember to bring a few coins for your child to contribute to the plate during the offering!  All coins collected through the year will be saved and presented as a gift to a charity, chosen by the children, at years end.

Homecoming!

Here it is!  The moment we've all been waiting for!  This Sunday is the homecoming service at All Souls AND it will be the first time Reverend Colleen Squires will preach as our called minister!  I hope you all will plan to be there.  We're expecting a big crowd!  You might want to put your water communion water in the car now (like I did) to make sure you don't forget it!  ;)  It will be an inter-generational service and all ages will be welcomed in the worship service, however, we will still be staffing the nursery for those folks who prefer to use that service.  The RE year will begin next week, September 16th.  Get ready to fill out new registration and safe congregations forms soon!

Water Communion at Homecoming

Well the summer is flying by.  I hope you're enjoying every minute of it!  I know at my house we're starting to think about that letter coming from the school announcing to which teacher we'll be assigned this school year.    However, there are still 3 1/2 weeks left of summer.  Be sure to savor these last few weeks, and in case you haven't yet done so, be sure to collect some water from your summer travels (far or near) for the Water Communion that will be a part of the Homecoming Service on September 9.  Colleen and Linda Squires are officially here in town and getting settled!  The buzz is building and it's going to be a great year at All Souls!  Hope to see you soon!

Picnic!!!

Please plan to join us at Grand Rapids Township Park immediately following the service this weekend, for our End of Year Celebration and Farewell to Lynda Smith.  It's been wonderful walking together with her and we will miss her dearly!  Come with plenty of tissues and a dish to pass as determined by last names (SEE the Weekly Expression for details).

January 30, 2012 - Update
Hooray!  We are officially up and running with the 5th-8th grade class!  We have a fantastic sounding curriculum called Riddle and Mystery (I wish I was in the class!).  Check out the lessons by following the link on the left hand side of this page!  We're so excited to have this group back.  Please consider teaching or assisting 2 times between now and June.  And if we haven't seen you in church for awhile, please come and bring your 5th-8th grader for this awesome class!

Don't forget that this next weekend, the kids will start out in service.  The children's choir will be singing and there will be a story for all ages.  After they are dismissed, they will be filling snack bags for the Kids Food Basket.  Please remember to wear your tie-dye shirts!  Hope to see you Sunday!
